Ronald E. Munson, P.E.
Principal Engineer

Mr. Munson has extensive experience with power plant equipment evaluation and reliability, including investigations and/or research on combustion turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, high temperature/high energy piping, boiler headers, and related components. He has successfully managed several risk assessment programs dealing with turbines, piping, and presses. He has also directed technical projects dealing with life assessment and repair of machinery with emphasis on loss prevention/loss control. In addition to failure analysis activities, Mr. Munson is involved in research and developmental studies in creep, fractography, corrosion fatigue, the high-temperature corrosion of steels, and the welding of large steam turbine rotors.

Mr. Munson has written numerous technical articles on weld repair of rotating equipment and is the principal author of the EPRI Guideline for the Weld Repair of Steam Turbine Rotors. Mr. Munson is also a member of AWS D14 committee on welding of machinery. He has also presented numerous courses and lectures on metallurgy.

Mr. Munson evaluates the technical accuracy and effectiveness of M&M Engineering work products while developing and executing technical growth strategies. He is responsible, through peer review, for the quality assurance and thoroughness of the failure analyses performed by the group.
